    POLICIES

Our parish has always emphasized the importance of a comprehensive Religious Education Program.  Our present program provides instruction for children ages 3 through 12th grade.  The classes begin in September and continue through April.

Our religious education staff consists of two religious education coordinators, a religious education assistant, and approximately sixty volunteer catechists.

At the present time the following policies are in effect for our Religious Education Program:

    1. Families must be registered with the parish before registering their children for religious education at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton or in Catholic school.

    2. Registration for religious education at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton should be made by June 30th. Children must be reregistered each year.

    3. Preparation for both the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation is a two-year program of study. Public school children attending the parish religious education program should not have more than four unexcused absences during this two-year program.  All parents of students preparing for sacraments are required to attend all parent meetings that are scheduled.

    4. Students from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, who attend St. Joseph School and are preparing for a sacrament, will receive the sacrament with the parish community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

    5. The pastor has the responsibility to determine whether a child has been adequately prepared to receive a sacrament; thus he may interview all candidates for a sacrament, or seek certification from the student's teacher.

    6. Service projects for confirmands are a very important part of their preparation. It is their responsibility to choose and complete their projects by the established deadline.

    7. All students are expected to abide by a written code of conduct while attending religious education classes. Disrespect of the church, its surroundings, teachers, and classmates, is not acceptable behavior.

    8. A fee is required to participate in the Religious Education Program. However, anyone experiencing financial difficulties should contact the Religious Education Office or Father Waldron.
