    Fr Richard Waldron's Obituary Notice

    Fr Waldron

    The Rev. Richard Patrick Waldron, age 76 of Mechanicsburg went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, Harrisburg, PA. Born December 7, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA he was the second son of the late Patrick M. and Marguerite (Regan) Waldron. In addition to his parents, Father Waldron was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas J. Waldron, step-mother, Ursula (Waldorf) Waldron and by his brother-in-law Duane E. "King" Plever.

    Surviving are his two sisters, Patricia M. "Patsy" Boyle and her husband, David of Manassas, VA, Dorothy A. "Dotti" Plever of Camp Hill, 11 nieces and nephews, as well as 14 grand nieces and nephews.


    Father Waldron attended Resurrection Catholic School, Philadelphia, St. Francis Catholic School, and Bishop McDevitt High School, both of Harrisburg. He was a graduate of St. Charles College, Catonsville, MD and St. Charles Seminary, Philadelphia, PA. He was Ordained and entered into the Priesthood with the Diocese of Harrisburg on May 20, 1961 at the Cathedral Parish of Saint Patrick in Harrisburg.

    Since his Ordination, Father Waldron has been involved with the following Appointments: St. Anthony of Padua, Lancaster (1961-1963), St. Joseph, Shamokin (1963-1965), Sacred Heart, Lewistown (1965-1967), Chaplain of York Catholic High School (1967-1968), St. Joseph, Dallastown (1967-1969), Assistant Principal of York Catholic High School (1968-1969), Principal of Lebanon Catholic High School (1969-1971), SS. Cyril & Methodius, Lebanon (1969-1970), Rector of Villa Vianney, Lebanon (1970-1971), Principal of York Catholic High School (1971-1982), Immaculate Conception B.V.M., York (1971-1982), Pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg (1982-2011), Chairman, Continuing Education Committee of Presbyteral Council (1984), Diocesan Board of Education (1986), Elected to Presbyteral Council (1990-1995), Appointed Dean of West Shore Deanery (1988, 1994-1998), Dean of Cumberland / Perry Deanery (1998-2001), Appointed to Continuing Education Committee (2002-2004), and was a member of the Priests Benefits and Retirement Board (2004-2006).

    Public visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday, May 19, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg with Mass of Transferral held at 7:00 PM.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Father Waldron's 50th anniversary of his Ordination at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 20, 2011 in his parish of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 310 Hertzler Drive, Mechanicsburg PA 17055. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mechanicsburg
